Celebration of togetherness & culture
One Family. One Community. One Mob.
In 2023, we collaborated with two incredible artists, George Gabey and Laura de Jersey, to create a uniform design that tells a story of togetherness and unity. This powerful design brings together the rich traditions and cultures of Torres Strait Islander and Aboriginal communities, showcasing the beauty of collaboration and support.

The story behind the design
George and Laura's design is a celebration of the values we at EMG Inclusive Supports hold close. George’s Torres Strait Islander artwork focuses on themes of nature, land, sea, and sky. For George, a healthy environment is essential to preserving cultural practices for future generations. His portion of the design reflects the interconnectedness of culture and the environment.
Laura’s contribution to the design reflects the Aboriginal communities and their deep connections to one another. Her circular patterns represent the diverse communities across Australia, including the hinterlands, coasts, deserts, and sea (including the Torres Strait Islands). The footprints within the design symbolise our people caring for family and friends with disabilities, supporting and uplifting one another.
Together, their collaboration symbolises the unity of two cultures working hand-in-hand to support those with disabilities. The colours reflect the pride and identity of both cultures, blending to create a unified future together.

About the artists
George Gabey
Growing up in an artistic household in the Torres Strait, George was inspired by senior artists and their styles, which guided his unique artistic identity. His work, often painted with acrylic on canvas, captures the beauty of nature and the importance of a healthy environment for future generations.
Laura de Jersey
A proud Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander woman, Laura draws inspiration from her family and country. Her art reflects her roots, including her connection to Old Mapoon and Hammond Island. Laura's work spans multiple mediums, from acrylics on canvas to digital designs, blending contemporary and traditional elements.
