OUR TEAM
Led by local voices.
At EMG Inclusive Supports we are a connected family built on trust, empathy and deep community pride. We believe lasting change begins within—our team is made up of people from the very communities we support. They bring local knowledge, cultural respect and work with care, purpose and a strong sense of responsibility.
Together, we help communities grow their capabilities and shape their own futures.
What inspires me the most is seeing the changes in the people that we support. You know one day we might be helping someone cook a meal — and before long, they’re doing it on their own and even teaching us new things about food and nutrition. Watching that kind of growth and independence is what makes this work just so meaningful. Supporting someone to build confidence and take charge of their own life, it's incredibly rewarding.
- Laura Shone, Program Coordinator -

Laura Shone
Program Coordinator
Laura moved from rural Victoria to the Torres strait more than 20 years ago, and has been working with our organisation for over a decade. Her passion has always been caring for people, and her work allows her to help others, build trust, and support communities across the Torres Strait and NPA to grow stronger. Her role allows her to grow her own skills while giving back to the communities she cares deeply about.
Laura hopes to see these communities grow stronger, more connected, and confident in shaping their own futures. She’d love to see more local people stepping into leadership roles, culture celebrated in everyday life, and families supported in ways that build long-term independence and wellbeing.

Mawath Seriat
Team Leader
With 16 years of experience in care and support work, particularly in aged care, Mawath is proud to bring these skills and knowledge to her local community. From beginning with us as a support worker, to her current role leading the local team, she has loved building genuine connections with clients, through a conversation, a helping hand, or simply being present. Knowing that she can make a difference, no matter how small, is what keeps her motivated and fulfilled.
Mawath hopes to see a stronger, healthier, and more connected community where everyone feels supported, respected, and valued. She believes in empowering people through compassionate care and helping to create an environment where cultural identity and well-being are deeply honoured and preserved. By working together, we can build a future where all community members can thrive with dignity and independence.

Maletta Seriat
Senior Support Worker
With ties to many of the clans of the Kauareg Nation, Maletta loves working with her people to make a difference to lives across the Torres Strait Islands.
A graduate of the Indigenous Marathon Foundation, with international races under her belt, Maletta knows how important proper training and preparation are for all aspects of life. In her role she enjoys not only the training and development she is undertaking, but also supporting those around her to create engaging and culturally appropriate activities for clients and community.

Ada Savage
Support Worker - Badu Island
More than two decades of retail experience on her home island showed Ada how needed supports were in her community. She undertook her Certificate 3 in Individual supports and joined our team as a support worker upon her successful completion.
Now she enjoys working with her community and helping her clients engage and socialise, especially at cultural events on the Island. The local art centre is a favourite hub for participation, and Ada often supports her clients to connect to Magaram and Argun cultural knowledge through these activities.

Zowanda Waia
Support Worker - Saibai Island
On the remote Northern Saibai Island Zowanda brings her passion and care to our team. She loves supporting her community members with their cleaning and gardening, developing new skills and ensuring her client’s living spaces are clean and comfortable.
Connected to the Ayth village and speaking the local Kalaw Kawaw Ya (KKY) language, she has found great enjoyment in engaging her client in story telling about his family tree, connection with local blood lines and culture.

Ivy Fauid
Support Worker - Poruma Island
Born and raised on Poruma Island, and with a personal interest in caring for those around her, Ivy has been instrumental in delivering supports on this tiny, outer island.
She feels blessed to work with her clients, seeing the potential they have, what they can do and supporting them to improve their skills in whatever areas their needs and interests are to grow independence.

Jerry Wuruki
Support Worker-Thursday Island
Jerry, originally from Yam Island, spent many of his childhood years on Badu and now lives and works on Thursday Island. Because of this, he has connections and family on many island throughout the Straits and in nearby PNG.
He hopes the communities of the Torres Strait can grow stronger and work even more closely together. Jerry wants to see culture become part of everyday life in the region, and families continue to get the support they need to live well and look after themselves into the future. He enjoys the fulfilment he gets from being part of our team and supporting his clients to live happy, supported lives.
Our team members profiled here are just a glimpse of the incredible people who make up our workforce across Country.
